The Systems and Operations Automation (SOA) Division of the Penn State Applied Research Laboratory was formed to address the emerging fields of condition-based maintenance (CBM) and advanced sensing and control. The division provides valuable research and development efforts in these areas to support the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. industry.

The SOA Division works closely with researchers in government, industry, and other universities to advance these technological areas and promote the transfer of this technology to manufacturing, power generation, transportation, and process industries.
