Finance Office - Responsible to assist Principal Investigators and the Laboratory Directorate with financial and compliance management of sponsored awards. Department responsibilities also include the processing of Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Travel reimbursement transactions. The department also utilizes University Financial Systems to record financial transactions and ensure compliance with University policies. Subcontracts - Responsible for the efficient and timely initiation, negotiation and
administration of all subcontract and consulting procurement awards issued by
the Applied Research Laboratory in compliance with the provisions of the prime
sponsored award and University policy and procedure and consistent with the

Computing and Networks - Provides strategic planning and implementation for Laboratory network infrastructure, administrative and file servers, information access security, desktop, workstation, and server computer support. C&N provides coordination with the University's Office of Telecommunications, Office of Administrative Systems, Center for Academic Computing, and the Computer, Network, and Information Security Office. Assistance is also provided to Laboratory offices for computing resource planning, asset management, and budgeting and purchasing. Drafting & Design - All of our work is performed using Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software. For mechanical work we use Unigraphics and for electronic printed circuit board design we use Mentor Graphics - Expedition PCB. In conjunction with the Machine Shop, we have expanded our Computer Aided Machining (CAM) capabilities to ensure that each projects work takes advantage of the latest in machine tool technology.
Information Services - Disseminates information and provides services to ARL researchers in support of their efforts to fulfill contractual agreements with the U.S. Navy and constituents. ARL Information Centers are located in the Applied Research Laboratory Building, the Garfield Thomas Water Tunnel, and the Applied Science Building. Machine Shops - ARL maintains an extensive set of specialty shops including NC multi-axis machining, paint and plating shops, a sheet metal shop, and a welding shop. The main shops are located at ARL West and at Cato Industrial Park (see ARL Building Locations). Please call (814) 863-5370.
Management Information Systems - As a unit of the Research Operations Office, MIS serves as the central resource responsible for supporting administrative information systems and training needs of the Laboratory through the development, maintenance and secure operation of applications using centralized administrative databases and web applications. Located at ARL West IV.

All visitors to any of the Applied Research Laboratory buildings must check in at the reception desk located in the lobby of each building.
Support Offices - Serves as the Washington area focus for program development, as a liaison with the National Capital Region sponsor community, and to showcase ARL capabilities. Personnel working out of this office maintain close ties to government offices involved in sponsorship of ARL work.
