Penn State has joined the Google Lunar X-Prize Competition to land a privately funded spacecraft on the Moon by 2015. The launch and execution of Penn State’s craft—the Lunar Lion—will be the culmination of a multiyear, interdisciplinary effort to meet the requirements of the competition and vie for its top rewards.

Led by ARL's Michael Paul, the effort is headquartered in the Advanced Technology Division, under the Programs Development initiative.
